No heat? Check out these easy troubleshooting tips for your furnace!

If you are having trouble with your heating system, save on expensive repairs and follow these easy troubleshooting tips to see if you can resolve some of the most common issues yourself.
Make sure your gas is on.
Check the gas shut-off valve at the gas company’s meter by tracing the gas line from the furnace to the meter. The handle should be parallel to the gas pipe, indicating that the gas is on. Check for other shut off valves around the house, and make sure they are all on. Contact your gas provider, or your Allgood service technician if your gas needs to be turned on.
Make sure your Thermostat is on and all the settings are correct.
Check your thermostat to make sure that all of the settings are correct. Make sure it is on “Heat” and not “Cool.” Check that the thermostat is on, and the program is displaying the right day and time, as well as the appropriate AM and PM settings. Check your batteries.
Make sure your pilot light is on.
Pilot lights do go out occasionally. Find your equipment manual and follow the instructions to relight your pilot. The instructions should also be printed on your equipment, or on the back of the furnace door. If your pilot lights keep going out, or it is too difficult for you to relight the pilot yourself, please give your Allgood service technician a call.
Make sure your circuit breaker has not tripped.
Check your circuit breaker and if it has tripped, then reset the breaker.
If the problem persists, and you have tried all of these tips, it may be time to call in a professional. Please call your Allgood technician to schedule a service call today.
