Common Summer Plumbing Problems

June 07, 2024

Summer is finally here and that can mean clogged drains and pipes due to the kids being home more. To avoid nasty plumbing repair work, here are a couple tips to keep you above the sink:

  • Dispose food into the trash, not your sink. Summer is such a great time for relaxing at home and making elaborate meals for our friends and family that we sometimes try to clean up so fast we push food down the kitchen sink. Even with fresh produce, sinks can easily get clogged and backed up when food gets stuck in the pipe so remember to always throw food away in a proper trash bin.
  • Flush only toilet paper down the drain. With the kids home more, clogged toilets can be a common headache. To help alleviate the back-up, instruct your child to use a small amount of toilet paper when in the bathroom and to flush only when they have to. If a clog does happen, using a plunger will help rid you of most clogs. If it doesn’t, you can always call Allgood Plumbing and Electric to come out and handle all your plumbing needs.
  • Don’t forget to inspect your sprinkler! Before you water those summer plants or your kids, be sure to inspect your sprinkler system and clean the head out before each use. Make sure the sprinkler is down before you mow your lawn to prevent damage.

Following these simple tips will position you to have a stress-free summer. Should you notice in plumbing issues, contact your always reliable, local Atlanta plumbers.
